JCS Journal for the Week of December 15th

We’re organizing a school-wide Holiday Spirit Week during the week of December 16th through 20th. We invite all JCS and students and staff to join us in showing their school spirit during this week!

Monday, 12/16 - Wacky Sweater/Outfit Day

Tuesday, 12/17 - Fun Hat/Socks Day

Wednesday, 12/18 - Pajama Day

Thursday, 12/19 - Holiday Colors Day

Friday, 12/20 - Purple/JCS Sea Turtle Day

Our 3rd graders have been working hard with Mr. Place to learn a fun program of holiday and winter music! 3rd grade families are invited to join us on the evening of Thursday, December 19th at 5:30pm for a wonderful Holiday Concert in the JCS cafeteria. We will be sending home a permission slip specifically to 3rd grade families at the beginning of the week. The purpose of the permission slip is to give your child permission to participate in this after school activity and to indicate responsibility for their transportation to and from the concert.

We are looking forward to focusing on Empathy over the next month as part of the PurposeFull People program through Character Strong! One way to think about Empathy is “understanding and connecting with other people’s feelings.” Empathy is a practice that can help us grow strong relationships.

Empathy is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.

Please see attached a school-wide Family Newsletter, as well as newsletters for each specific grade level.

To help families plan ahead, there will be no school for all JCS and Norton students starting on Monday, 12/23 through Wednesday, 1/1. Students will return to school on Thursday, 1/2.

The JCS SPO meeting planned for Thursday, January 9th at 6:00pm will be completely virtual/online. We invite and encourage JCS parents and guardians to join us!
