Week of January 26th
Hello JCS families,

It’s hard to believe, but this is the last week of January and the month has been flying by! Soon we will be celebrating the 100th day of school and Valentine’s Day, so keep an eye out for communications from your child’s teacher about upcoming events and celebrations. The JCS staff may also have some surprises planned as we get into February…

Early Dismissal this Friday/No Ice Cream on Thursday
This Friday, 1/31, is an Early Release Day. Dismissal for Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will be at 12:30pm. There will be no PM PreK.

As we shared last week, the district’s Wellness Committee is testing a change to the district-wide weekly school lunch ice cream program. The district is not going to serve ice cream on weeks where there is a scheduled early release day. This means that there will be no ice cream for sale this Thursday during lunch.

Monthly Trait, Perseverance
This month is all about Perseverance. One way to think about Perseverance is “pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles.” We all experience challenges in our lives. We all have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up on a big task. It is important to develop tools that help us work through those challenges in order to grow in those moments instead of giving up.

Perseverance is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Strong. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like focusing, organizing, and goal-setting.

Please see attached a school-wide Family Newsletter, as well as newsletters for each specific grade level.
