Congratulations to Lisa Varney for being presented with the NEED Beth Blakeley Peer Impact Award at JCS! Beth was a founding member of NEED back in 2005 and with her vision & guidance, NEED has annually honored a staff member in each school for their contributions to support students and families. Lisa is a perfect honoree at JCS because of everything she does on a daily basis to make JCS a caring and supportive school community for students, staff, and families. Because the entire school did such an excellent job raising funds for the school during the grade level Coin Wars, the SPO is hosting a school-wide ice cream party! The ice cream party is scheduled for this Friday, April 4th during each lunch. The party is open to all students and is completely free.

For families that are concerned about food allergies or sensitivities, the SPO is going to share the ingredients for all of the ice cream and toppings that are offered. There will be a dairy ice cream option (something like a “Hoodsie” cup) and a non-dairy option. The ingredients for the ice cream options will be available and shared with JCS families on Thursday. The toppings offered will be Oreo cookie pieces, natural rainbow sprinkles, and Haribo gummy bears. Please see the toppings ingredients listed below.

The Solmonese Parent Organization (SPO) is holding a monthly meeting on Thursday, 4/3 at 6PM at J.C. Solmonese School in the 2nd floor Library/Media Center. All parents, guardians, caregivers, teachers, and staff are welcome to attend! Our friends at Champions will be offering childcare for any parents that would like to attend, but also need to bring their child.

We encourage parents/guardians to attend SPO meetings in-person, but we also understand that's not an option for everyone. We will also be streaming the meeting live on Google Meet via the link below.

This month’s focus is Cooperation. One way to think about Cooperation is “working together to reach shared goals.” As a family, talk about how this definition applies to how you work together at home. What are some goals you share?

Cooperation is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.
