On Tuesday, April 8th and Wednesday, April 9th, our 3rd graders will be taking the ELA MCAS assessment. Over the past few months, the students have been practicing and preparing for this test. They are ready! By working together, we can make your child’s test experience positive and successful. Here are some ways that we can work together to support our 3rd graders and help them be successful:
- Make sure your 3rd grader gets enough rest on nights before the scheduled assessments.
- Have your 3rd grader eat a healthy breakfast at home or be to school on time to grab a quick breakfast from the cafeteria.
- Make sure your 3rd grader arrives at school on time. The assessment begins promptly at 9:30am to allow students to have enough time and be relaxed while they are taking the assessment.
- Encourage your 3rd grader to wear comfortable clothing that won’t distract them.
- If you wish, send your 3rd grader to school with some gum or hard candies for testing days (Lollipops, Jolly Ranchers, or Life Savers are excellent suggestions). These items still need to be nut free.
- Gently encourage your child to try their best!
Thank you for your support! Please email your 3rd grader’s classroom teacher with any questions or concerns. You can also reach out to Mr. Barrette.
Sincerely,
Mr. Barrette and the JCS 3rd Grade Team
