Hi JCS families,
Great news! The 2nd Grade Memorial Day Concert is still on for tomorrow, May 23rd, at 2:00 PM!
We've been keeping a close eye on the weather, and while it's going to be a bit chilly, it looks like the rain is going to end before the afternoon. We want to respect the fact that some parents and families may have already taken time off from work to attend tomorrow’s concert and do everything we can do to make tomorrow’s performance a great experience.
Mr. Place and all the 2nd-grade teachers are so proud of how hard the students have worked on their songs, and the 2nd grade students can't wait to perform for you!
Due to the possibility of damp conditions, the concert will now be held on the blacktop behind the school.
Dress warmly: The forecast is in the mid-50s. Please send all students (PreK - 3rd grade) to school with a warm sweatshirt or spring jacket so they can comfortably enjoy the performance.
Towel recommended: We suggest sending your PreK, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 3rd grade children to school with a towel to sit on. This will make sitting on the blacktop much more comfortable!
Seating for 2nd grade families: We invite you to bring a lawn chair or beach chair for comfortable seating. There will be a designated area for students, and families can set up their chairs outside of this space.
Finding the concert: After parking, please walk around the left side of the school to the rear playground area where the blacktop is located.
Rain plan: In case of rain during the performance, our backup plan is to move the concert inside to the cafeteria. We want to ensure the show goes on without interruption!
Early dismissal option: After the performance, you will have the option to sign out your 2nd grader to take them home. Staff will be available to assist with this process.
Regular dismissal: If you prefer, your 2nd grader can follow their usual dismissal routine (bus, pick-up, or Champions).
Siblings: Any siblings of 2nd graders who are leaving with you will need to be signed out from the main office.
Thank you for your understanding and support. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a rain-free afternoon!
Sincerely,
Mr. Barrette
