Today is the end of Daylight Saving Time and we set our clocks back one hour. Most of our clocks now change themselves (phones, tablets, computers, etc.), but there may be a few that we need to change manually. Changing the clocks often throws all of us off for a few days in terms of our daily routines and everyone may need a little extra support. It's to be expected that students may have some challenges over the next few days until they get used to the time change.

JCS students have filled their turtle tank in the cafeteria for being responsible and taking care of their materials by doing a great job consistently cleaning up their trash. Some students were so proud, they even took the turtle tokens home! The students have earned PJ Day on Monday, November 3rd!

We know that the Thursday ice cream service during lunches is popular for many of our students. Here is the schedule for November and December:

There WILL be ice cream service on 11/6, 11/20, 12/4, and 12/18.

There will NOT be ice cream service on 11/13, and 12/11

Tuesday, November 11th is Veterans Day and we are looking to celebrate together as a school community. We are planning to have a short ceremony on Monday morning, November 10th at 9:45 AM shortly after student arrival. If the weather is clear, we will gather outside the front of the school near our flag pole to say the pledge of allegiance together and engage in a moment of silence. If it is raining, we will gather together in the gym.

We would like to invite any JCS parents who are veterans to join us on Monday morning, November 10th for this quick school celebration so that we can acknowledge and honor you as part of our ceremony. My own father was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War who received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star and I understand how important it is for all of us to thank and honor our veterans all throughout the year, especially on Veterans Day.

Inter-State Studio will be at JCS offering school picture retakes for any students who missed the first school picture day or whose family would like to have their picture retaken. More information will be shared from Inter-State Studio.

The Solmonese Parent Organization (SPO) is holding a monthly meeting on Thursday, 11/6 at 6PM at J.C. Solmonese School in the 2nd floor Library/Media Center. All parents, guardians, caregivers, teachers, and staff are welcome to attend! Our friends at Champions will be offering childcare for any parents that would like to attend and also need to bring their child.

We encourage parents/guardians to attend SPO meetings in-person, but we also understand that's not an option for everyone. We will also be streaming the meeting live on Google Meet via the link below.

There is no school on Tuesday, November 11th to commemorate Veterans Day.
