JCS "Turtle Talk"

Week of December 14th

Hi JCS families,

We have one full week and a day and a half of school before the December Vacation! We know that this is a busy and sometimes stressful time of year for everyone. If your child is having difficulty, please let us know so that we can work with you to support them leading up to the holidays.

JCS Holiday Spirit Week+, December 15th through 23rd

We want to let families know well ahead of time about the JCS Holiday Spirit Week+ we have planned for students and staff starting on Monday, December 15th running through Tuesday, December 23rd. The themes for each day are very simple and no family should feel any pressure or obligation to purchase anything special for their child to participate. If your child has clothing or items that match the theme for a particular Spirit Day, we invite and encourage them to wear them. Here is the schedule of Spirit Days:

  • Monday, December 15th - Sea Turtle or Purple Day
  • Tuesday, December 16th - Hat Day
  • Wednesday, December 17th - Pajama Day
  • Thursday, December 18th - Sock Day
  • Friday, December 19th - Holiday Colors (black, gold, green, red, white)
  • Monday, December 22nd - Wacky Outfit or Sweater Day
  • Tuesday, December 23rd (Early Release Day) - Mad About Plaid Day

3rd Grade Family Concert

The family performance of the 3rd Grade Holiday Concert will be this Friday, December 19th at 2:00pm. Parents and guardians are invited to join us in the JCS cafeteria for the performance!

This is a holiday concert, so we encourage students to dress in holiday colors/attire. To make sure that all students can be seen by their families, please no hats or large headbands that will block other students. It's also warm on the stage under the lights, so we ask that students don't wear anything big, bulky, or flashy that will block or disrupt other students or be too warm on stage.

At the end of the concert, the students will exit the cafeteria first. Family members should wait in their seats until your child’s teacher’s name is called. Once the teacher’s name is called the family members dismissing the child will exit the cafeteria and walk down the main hallway towards the office. Other guests and family members can exit out the doors in the rear of the cafeteria. The family member who is dismissing their child will work with their child's teacher to find your child and then exit by the main office doors. This will make the dismissal process smooth and safe for everyone!

Mr. Place, the 3rd grade team and, most importantly, the 3rd graders are excited to share their performance with you this Friday!
