JCS "Turtle Talk"

Week of December 21st

Hi JCS families,

Happy Winter Solstice, the shortest day and longest night in the Northern Hemisphere! I know that we’re all looking forward to the days starting to slowly grow longer.

Early Release this Tuesday and Holiday Break Begins on Wednesday

To help families plan ahead, there will be no school for all JCS and Norton students starting on Wednesday, 12/24 through Friday, 1/2. In addition, there is early dismissal on Tuesday, 12/23. Students will return to school on Monday, 1/5.

JCS Holiday Spirit Week+, December 15th through 23rd

We want to let families know well ahead of time about the JCS Holiday Spirit Week+ we have planned for students and staff starting on Monday, December 15th running through Tuesday, December 23rd. The themes for each day are very simple and no family should feel any pressure or obligation to purchase anything special for their child to participate. If your child has clothing or items that match the theme for a particular Spirit Day, we invite and encourage them to wear them. Here is the schedule of Spirit Days:

  • Monday, December 22nd - Wacky Outfit or Sweater Day
  • Tuesday, December 23rd (Early Release Day) - Mad About Plaid Day

Congratulations to the 3rd Graders!

Congratulations to the 3rd graders for two wonderful Holiday Concerts this past Friday! The students did an awesome job in their performances, both in the morning for the PreK through 2nd grade students and in the afternoon for their families. It was terrific to hear their voices singing together with such energy and joy.

Huge thanks to Ms. Alves, Ms. Goodrich, Mr. Oakley, Mrs. Phillips, Ms. Weber, Mrs. Sala, and (of course) Mr. Place for all of their hard work in preparing our students for the performances!

Also, thank you to Mrs. Blackburn, Mrs. Farley, and Mr. Lizotte for their assistance supporting a 3rd grade family member when a tree branch unexpectedly fell on their car towards the end of the concert. Thankfully, no one was injured and the Norton Police and Highway Departments quickly responded to assist and make sure that everyone was safe. We really appreciate everyone’s help!
