3rd Grade Farewell Celebration, Monday 6/22 at 2:00pm

The 3rd Grade Farewell Celebration is scheduled for Monday, June 22nd at 2:00pm in the JCS cafeteria. We’re looking forward to welcoming families to join us in the celebration.

  • When 3rd grade families arrive, please enter the cafeteria through the cafeteria side doors (Door 14), not the main office (Door 1) or the Champions Entrance (Door 15).
  • If you are dismissing a sibling, please arrive before 1:55pm and enter the school through the main office (Door 1) and dismiss your sibling BEFORE the assembly begins. Once you dismiss your sibling, you can head to the cafeteria to watch the assembly.
  • When the assembly ends, the students will leave the cafeteria, go to the hallway, grab their backpacks and then return to the cafeteria. Families will remain seated until the 3rd grade students return.
  • The 3rd grade students will sit with their classes in the “pit” of the cafeteria.
  • Families can dismiss their 3rd grader from their classroom teacher. You must check in with your child's homeroom teacher.
  • Teachers will have a class list and will sign out students.

2026-27 School Year Calendar

The 2026-27 School Year Calendar is posted both on the district website and on the JCS website under “Students & Families”. It's also linked below for your convenience.

We respectfully request that families use this calendar to plan family trips, events, and medical appointments on days when school is not in session, if at all possible. In the 2026-27 school year we will be continuing our school's focus on improving daily attendance for students to support their learning.

Summer Learning Packets

Your child should have come home with the summer learning packet this past week. The packet included the parent letter explaining the summer learning activities, a reading and math log, a math calendar for your child's grade level, and a resource page with fun reading and math websites and apps.

The summer learning activities are optional. However, to help maintain skills learned during the school year, it is helpful for students to take part in reading and math activities on a regular basis this summer.

Please have your child return the bottom portion of the parent letter by Monday, June 22nd, which indicates that you have received the summer learning packet. If an additional packet is needed over the summer, the digital packet can be found on the NPS district website.

Thank you for your support and have a wonderful and safe summer!

Please Let the School Know If Your Family is Moving

If your family is moving this summer (or has already moved) and your child will no longer be attending JCS in the fall, please call the school office at 508-285-0120 or email Mrs. Robichaud at crobichaud@norton.k12.ma.us. We want to make sure to update our records and enrollments for next year AND prepare any student files that need to be sent to another school or district.

Any Family Interested in a Giant Pumpkin Sprout?

One of our reading tutors, Mrs. Sall, donated a seed of a giant pumpkin (1000+ lbs.) to JCS! After consulting with our facilities department, we just couldn't find an appropriate spot on the JCS grounds to grow such a large pumpkin. However, we don't want this very cool pumpkin sprout to go to waste and we would love for a JCS family to try to grow it.

If any family is interested in taking this giant pumpkin sprout and growing it, please let Mr. Barrette know and he will gladly give to you. Just be aware, the giant pumpkin that the seed came from grew to over 1,200 lbs!
