Week of September 15th
Hello JCS families,

Thank you for two safe and successful weeks of school! As your child may have already shared with you, we had two fire drills this week to make sure that all students know the safety routines and that are our entire school is well prepared in the event of an emergency. We appreciate the partnership of the Norton Fire Department and Norton Police Department during these safety drills and helping to keep our students and staff safe each and every day.

Tightening Up Drop-off and Pick-up
Most families have gotten into a good routine with morning drop-off and afternoon pickup. We just wanted to send a few reminders to help tighten up the process so that it's as safe and smooth as possible.

K-3 Morning Drop-off begins at 9:05am and the gate opens about 8:45am.
  • To avoid long traffic lines in the parking lots, please plan to arrive no earlier than 8:45am.
  • Pull up as far as you can next to one of the 8 cones to drop-off your child. The more vehicles we can safely fit, the quicker the process moves for everyone.
  • Please have students ready to exit the vehicle when you pull up to a cone. We know that this can be challenging with younger students, but things have generally been going pretty well and we appreciate it.
  • Students need to stay in their family's vehicle until the school staff come out at 9:05am. There are no school staff available to supervise students prior to 9:05am and, as much as we know that students want to play on the playground or hang out on the blacktop, the school cannot be responsible for students until 9:05am.

K-3 Afternoon Pick-up begins "officially" at 3:35pm and the gate opens about 3:15pm.
  • To avoid long traffic lines in the parking lots, please plan to arrive no earlier than 3:15pm.
  • Please have your yellow "pick-up" paper visible in your windshield to speed the pick-up process.

Little Lancers drop-off
  • In order to keep PreK drop-off and pick-up as safe and organized as possible, we would like to remind families to stay at your cars with your child and wait for a PreK staff member to walk your child into the school. Please do not walk your child to the school door UNLESS you chose to park your car in the school parking lot instead of driving in the drop-off/pick-up line.
  • No cars should park in the front loop of the school for any reason because it is the school Fire Lane and where mini-buses need to drop-off students.
  • No cars should park in any of the school driveways for any reason.
