JCS Journal for the Week of September 22nd

Hello JCS families,

Today marks the beginning of fall, probably my favorite season of each year. Not only does fall bring a lot of fun New England traditions and food (colorful foliage, apple picking, apple cider, apple pie, pumpkin spice EVERYTHING), it also means that the first few weeks of school are over. We’re now back in the swing of things, students are familiar with the routines, and important learning is happening in all classrooms.

This Friday, 9/27 will be the first district wide Early Release day. During Early Release days, teachers and staff receive valuable time to engage in professional development and to work on things like curriculum. Students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade will still receive lunch at school. Please see the Early Release schedule for this Friday:

A note from Champions, please make sure that you enroll for the Early Release half-day or reach out to Rachel Medas (ch004945@discoverchampions.com) if you need your child to attend Champions on Friday and that is not a day your child is already scheduled to attend.

Thank you to the parents and guardians that were able to attend Curriculum Night this past week. We know that the lack of childcare made it challenging to attend and that is something that we will work hard on addressing for next year. To make sure that all parents and guardians have access to the information shared during Curriculum Night, please find links below to the Kindergarten through 3rd grade presentations. Some of the teachers have already shared this information, but we wanted to work together to make it available for all. The presentations for Little Lancers PreK are more individualized for each classroom and many of the PreK teachers have already shared information with their students’ families.

IT’S FLAMINGO SEASON! 🦩🦩🦩

Beginning in early October, the JCS Flamingo Flock will begin their flight around the JCS Community. Once you sign-up and make your donation ($20 recommended) your yard will be secretly flocked by our flamingos - and then you get to secretly flock the next JCS Family on the list! You’ll have to be sneaky! The flamingos will be moving from family to family across town until they make their way back to JCS in late November.

Don’t worry! We will have Flock Leaders to help you through the flocking process. Sign up and get ready for some flocking fun! This Fundraiser is FUN and EASY - we hope you’ll be part of this season’s flock! 🦩🦩🦩

Mark your calendars! As announced at the first JCS-SPO Meeting earlier this month, the JCS Family Movie Night is scheduled for Saturday, October 12 beginning at 6:00PM.

We look forward to celebrating the Halloween Season by watching Hotel Transylvania 2 with all of our JCS Sea Turtles and their families!

There is no cost to enjoy the movie, but we are offering concessions and raffles for gift baskets to help raise funds for the SPO. You can pre-order both from our Linktree at https://linktr.ee/jcsspo

There will be limited concessions available onsite, so be sure to order ahead. We can’t wait to see you there!
