Week of October 6th

Hello JCS families,

This is our first full week in October and the weather is definitely changing! Students may want to bring a sweatshirt, sweater, or light jacket with them to school to use during recess.

Our school is expanding the ways that we communicate important information to families and encourage the celebration of the wonderful learning activities that take place at JCS! Please take a moment to visit our school’s new Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/jcsolmonese and click “Like” to follow us and stay up to date on what’s happening at JCS. We will also continue to post and distribute information using ParentSquare which provides a more private method for families to communicate with the school.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up next week and the overall conference hours for JCS are:

Wednesday, 10/16 after school, from 3:45pm to 5:15pm

Thursday, 10/17, 1:15pm to 8:30pm

Teachers will be using ParentSquare to allow families to schedule conference slots across the hours available. We certainly encourage parents and caregivers to meet with their child’s teacher in-person, however teachers will be flexible and offer a virtual conference when needed.

Messages from teachers to families to sign-up for conferences will be sent out by Wednesday, 10/9.

Parks & Recreation Costume Exchange

The Norton Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Halloween Costume exchange this Tuesday, 10/8 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the New Town Hall Lobby. There is no charge to take a “new-to-you” costume and families don’t need to donate a costume to take one. This program is a way to recycle costumes that are usually used just once and to let them be used and loved again by a new child.

Family Movie Night, Saturday October 12th starting at 6:00pm

The JCS Family Movie Night is scheduled for Saturday, October 12 beginning at 6:00PM.

We look forward to celebrating the Halloween Season by watching Hotel Transylvania 2 with all of our JCS Sea Turtles and their families!

There is no cost to enjoy the movie, but we are offering concessions and raffles for gift baskets to help raise funds for the SPO. You can pre-order both from our Linktree at https://linktr.ee/jcsspo

There will be limited concessions available onsite, so be sure to order ahead. We can’t wait to see you there!

Book Fair (tentative)

The SPO is tentatively scheduling a Scholastic Book Fair during the week of October 21st. The Book Fair will be set up and held in the Library/Media Center. Right now, the thinking is to offer an evening time for families on Wednesday, 10/23 and then offer times for classes during the school day on Thursday, 10/24 and Friday, 10/25. We will share more details when everything is confirmed with Scholastic.
